Azure SQL - need for double refresh? (dataset & report)

Hi

I have created a report in PBI Desktop which is based on Azure SQL database.  I have published the report to the Service.

Now, I have put the dataset credential in the service and wanted to test how refresh works.

So I have refreshed the dataset, but the report based on that dateset does not update automatically. I have to click refresh in the report itself to include data from refreshed dataset.

is that by design? I would imagine the report should update automatically if I refreshed the dataset it is based on.

Hi marcin_wozniak,

Are you using import mode or direct query mode when you connect to azure sql database? If you are using import mode, you should configure schedule refresh in power bi service. If you are using direct query and you want to see data change in dashboard or report without click "refresh" or refresh browser, you should configure cache refresh, for more details, you can refer to: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/announcing-custom-cache-refresh-schedules-in-the-power-bi-s....
