Hi,
i've been using the new Azure Databricks ADBC driver with query tags. Everything worked fine until last Friday (3/6/2026) when this error started happening. I can open the same model in PBI Desktop and refresh it without any problems and the query tags are visible in Databricks query history. This only happens in the PBI Service.

Hi @sanab , Could you please share your Power Query? I need to see the first few lines before you define your table name.
Thanks,
Natarajan M
Hi @sanab ,
If the feature was previously working in the Power BI Service and stopped around March 6, this may indicate a service-side regression in the Azure Databricks ADBC implementation rather than a gateway issue.
Unfortunately there is currently no public tracker specifically for connector option availability. The best ways to monitor the status are:
Check the Microsoft Fabric Known Issues page
Monitor updates in the Fabric Community thread
Review Power BI Service update announcements
If the issue persists, we recommend opening a Microsoft Support ticket so the engineering team can verify the issue. To create a support ticket for Microsoft Fabric or Power BI, please follow the steps outlined in the official guide: Create a Fabric and Power BI Support Ticket - Power BI | Microsoft Learn.
Hope this helps,
Chaithra E.
Hi @sanab ,
Could you please confirm if you’ve already raised the support ticket? If not, please go ahead and create one.
Also, once you get any update from the support team, kindly share it here it will be helpful for others facing the same issue.
Thank you.
Thank you. The feature was available in the service already because it was working before last Friday. Is there a way to track when it will be available again?
Hi @sanab ,
Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Community.
The error indicates that the adbc.databricks.query_tags option is not implemented in the runtime used by Power BI Service or the On-premises Data Gateway.
Power BI Desktop includes newer versions of connectors, which is why refresh works locally and query tags appear in Databricks Query History. However, when the dataset refresh runs in the Service, it may use an older ADBC implementation that does not yet support this option.
Please verify that your On-premises Data Gateway is updated to the latest version. If the issue persists, a temporary workaround is to remove the adbc.databricks.query_tags option from the connection until the feature becomes available in the Service runtime.
Hope this helps.
Thank you.
