Automating Data Export from Power BI to Azure Data Lake or Azure SQL

Hello Everyone.

I am struggling to find a solution to automate an export from Power BI to Azure Data Lake or Azure SQL. I read here about using R-Script or Python to achieve that out of Power BI Desktop but it is not clear whether this can be automated in the Power BI Service.

My main goal is to use an already curated data set in a Power BI report which already has all the DAX measures and logic, and then export this data to Azure Data Lake or Azure SQL so that I can then send out data extracts out of Azure to my client.

Thanks so much.

Hi @jakesh

In my blog post I show how to use Power Automate to run a DAX query and then export the results to a CSV file which is then saved in SharePoint.

You could change the destination file from SharePoint to your Azure data lake?

Hi @jakesh

I am not 100% sure of any other way unless you query the data directly without going via Power BI desktop.

You could use Logic Apps, which is almost idential to Power Automate but runs inside Azure?

@GilbertQ this is helpful. However, if I wanted to run the Power Automate flow without using the DAX query, what option would I use in the Power BI step to get a dataset or report to export into a CSV file to SharePoint?
