Automatic update of a dashboard (visual pin-it) when an underlying report changes

Hello everyone,

When we make a dashboard (pin-it of several visuals from several reports) and a visual changes in an underlying report (for example the font of a title), is it possible for the update to be automatic in the dashboard (without having to delete the pin-it and recreate it)?

No, updates to visuals in underlying reports—such as changes to formatting (like font size, colors, titles, or labels)—do not automatically reflect in the dashboard tiles that were pinned earlier. When you pin a visual to a Power BI dashboard, you're essentially taking a static snapshot of that visual at the time of pinning. This snapshot remains unchanged unless the data behind the visual changes and triggers a tile refresh. However, any changes made to the visual’s appearance or structure in the report (like modifying axes, titles, filters, or layout) will not automatically update the dashboard tile. To reflect such changes, you would need to manually delete the existing tile from the dashboard and re-pin the updated visual from the report. This is a known limitation in Power BI's dashboard functionality, and it's one reason many users prefer using report pages with navigation or apps instead of traditional dashboards when dynamic formatting changes are expected.

Hey @vivien57 ,

The update of a report DATA flows through to the dashboard tiles.  But, updates to the visual FORMAT (like fonts or formatting) do not flow through.  You will have to remove and re-pin if you make a format change.
