Auto Update report in PowerBI Service, after changes are made in excel Sharepoint

Hi guys

I have a PBI report and the source of data is an excel in Sahrepoint, I used "web" to fetch the data.

The source has changes made weekly, and I would need these changes to be seen in PBI Service report.

The issue is that for now I am doing this manualy - update source in the desktop report, then republish the report in PBI Service.

I have seted an automated refresh for the semantic model, but this does not help.

Is there a workaround for this?

  • Hi. Well, it's tricky. Depending on the license you have you might have different alternativas. Considering most people have Pro licenses. The pro has a limitation of 8 automatic refreshes per day. So if you are refreshing the dataset for each changes you make in the day, it might hit a limitation really fast and keep you with the manual way all over again. (That would be done with Power Automate.)

I would probably configure 8 refresh a day during working hours.

    I hope that helps,

Thanks so much for your time!

I will use PA, as my reports need refreshing just once a week.

Don't do that.  Use the Sharepoint Folder connector.
