Authorization from Azure Analysis Service to Power BI.

Hi,

 

We use TimeXtender to pass a semantic model to Azure Analysis Service. We can specify roles/users via TimeXtender. The problem with this is that users who can access the data via Azure Analysis Services can also access it with Excel. This gives them access to the full semantic model. We only want to provide the end users with Power BI reports and want to prevent them from being able to work with the data themselves in Excel.

 

How can we solve that?

    If you don't want the users to see your data then don't give them your data.  (meaning - have different apps and datasets for different audiences).

     

    Ask yourself if you are in the business of promoting use of self service BI, or in the business of preventing it.
