App Audience name issue

Hello,

Anyone else unable to name their audiences in Power BI App with "space" lately? We used to be able to do it for many years, for now it seems like a bug so we're basically copying/pasting the name from a notepad onto the audience tab.

Thanks!

-Pawan

Hi @pvuppala  , Yes this issue is reported by other users in the community .
The exixting group name with space are working as its where as if you try to enter a new user name its not accepting . for now only way is to copy paste .

Please find the other tickter where this issue is mentioned : https://community.fabric.microsoft.com/t5/Service/we-can-not-longer-use-spaces-in-the-name-of-an-aud...

If this response was helpful in any way, I’d gladly accept a kudo.

Hi @Aswini000000000,

Thank you for confirming that you’re experiencing the same issue.

This is a known problem in the Power BI Service, where audience names in the App experience don’t accept spaces when entered manually. Copying and pasting works as a temporary workaround, but it isn’t a permanent fix.

Currently, there’s no official ETA from Microsoft for resolving this. The issue has been reported by several users and is being tracked by the product team, so it should be addressed in a future update.

For now, please keep an eye on the community thread and Power BI / Microsoft Fabric release notes for any announcements. If this is affecting your production work, you may want to submit a Fabric / Power BI support ticket so the issue can be tracked for your tenant and you’ll get notified when a fix is released.

Thank you.

Hi,

Thanks for the response; yes, I have submitted to support team since our's is in prod; this is the reply I got back:

We are currently working with our Engineering team to check when a fix for this issue will be available and if there is an estimated timeline for resolution (ETA). As soon as we receive any updates, I will be sure to keep you informed.

For now, Our Engineering team has provided the Workaround as Copy and Pasting the Space Character.

Guess all we can currently do is wait for MS to release the fix.

Hi @pvuppala,

You’re correct, copying and pasting is just a temporary workaround, not a real fix. This is currently a known issue on the service side, and there hasn’t been an official ETA announced for when it will be resolved. Since the problem is happening in the Power BI Service UI and has been reported by several users, the Microsoft product team will need to address it.

For the latest updates, it’s best to follow the Microsoft Fabric / Power BI community thread and check the Microsoft Fabric Service Health or Support page. If this issue is affecting your production work, you might want to submit a formal support ticket through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center or Fabric Support so it’s tracked for your tenant.

We’ll keep an eye on updates, and any confirmed fixes or timelines from Microsoft should appear in the community or release notes.

Copy/Pasting a name is not a "Solution" is more of a workaround. 🙂

Do we have an ETA when Microsoft would resolve this issue?
