Analyze in excel insert timeline error

I have a date table with a date column with data type = 'date' formatted as date in my power bi model. When I export the dataset with Analzye in Excel I cannot insert a timeline slicer. I get the err...

Hi bpratt,

What is your data source? Based on my test, when I use SSAS database as data source, after exporting the dataset with Analyze in Excel, I am able to insert a timeline slicer as shown in the following screenshots.



However, when I use other types of data source, I can reproduce your error message. It seems that Excel cannot recognize the Date column properly.

Hi Anonymous,

I'm just wondering if there have been any updates or fixes for this issue.  I've encountered the same issue when my original data source is a simply Excel file.  Our organization would like to use the advantages of PowerBI yet still have the final results (analysis) in Excel.  Any updates would be greatly appreciated.
