Analysis Services as Data Connection in Gateway FAIL
In this case , how do we set the gateway for refresh
Hey Kaarthi,
Any chance you resolved this?
I'm getting the exact same issue.
NandanHegde - it's all PowerBI/Saas; ie; we create a powerbi report and upload it to the service which creates a semantic model.
You share the semantic model with the appropriate security groups.
Create report #2; Get Data > PowerBI Semantic Model; select the model you want. Do whatever you want in the Report.
Publish Report #2 to PowerBI Service.
Here's where it gets funky;
* If you only have the linked Semantic model in Report #2, the report will work fine in PBI service and you do not need to do anything in the gateway; no connection is required
* If you added any other data source from your PBI Gateway to Report #2, the report will work fine in PBI Desktop, but when you upload it to PBI service, it will complain there is no Connection in PBI gateway.
So you click 'Create new' in the On Prem gateway area and you get the screen Kaarthi linked to above.
You enter valid network credentials and it doesn't work.
Alternatively if you create a new connection in PowerBI gateway for PowerBI Semantic Model; this will take the authentication and finish being able to be set up; however it doesn't exist in the drop down to attach the data source to for Report #2.
Any clarity on what the correct path is for using 2 data sources when using a gateway would be great as I'm tearing my hair out on this; I really don't want to have to recreate the logic of the initial semantic model again.
