Analyse in Excel User ID issue

I have a power bi dataset contained all company subsidary data and used by other subsidary company in Excel. Now I want to share the same Excel file to the users from other subsidary. For some reason, the user can access to the power bi App built from the same dataset, but when they open up the Excel file and refresh. they have the following error message.

We couldn't get data from external souce. OLE DB or OBDC error?

I check their roles in RLS, they can see visual in the app so I exclude the issue in role in RLS.  The same Excel file can be refreshed by other users in other subsidary.  one things I doubt is whether the new users have to be subcribed users rather than trial userswhich is what they are now to use Analyze in Excel.

I further tested it by using a blank excel file download from service but the problem still presist. I kind of lost here.

Can anyone help?

    Hi gavin007 ,

When you created the .PBIX did you pull from the excel stored in sharepoint or did you pull from excel stored local then uploaded that excel to sharepoint?

I suspect the latter which will give you errors without a personal gateway, system powered on and online, etc.

    Best Regards,

    Lucien

v-luwang-msft  sorry I may not explain clearly. The Excel is not the source file. The Excel file is a downolad from pbi dataset via Analyze in Excel option. It contains the data model created in power bi desktop. Hope that makes sense.
