An exception occurred: An error happened while reading data from the provider

I'm getting the following error when attempting to set up a Dataflow to connect to a Postgresql database.  We have the correct version of npgsql installed.

An exception occurred: An error happened while reading data from the provider: 'Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.'

The issue was FIPS being enabled on the PBI Gateway server.  The NPGSQL application will not work with FIPS enabled.  In our case I moved the gateway server to a different GPO that has FIPS disabled.

Hi @Anonymous ,

If you are using a Dataflow and you are getting that error I would turn in a ticket to Microsoft to confirm that on their side they have the right version of npgsql installed since I believe that it is their install and not yours that is used in a Dataflow. Please let us know the result.

Hi @collinq ,

Thanks for the response. The dataflow executes trough the gateway and not from the Microsoft side.  The version of npgsql is the correct version.  We have a ticket opened with MS, so hopefully we can get it resolved at some point.
