Allow Others to Refresh PBI Dataset online
I have a PBI report/dataset publisedh to a team workspace, the dataset is 100% cloud-based, so it doesn't require gateway. I am the "owner" of said workspace on PRO license. My question is: what ...
Don't give them access to the workspace at all.
- Create a Power Automate Flow visual.
- From that, create a Power Automate flow that when a button is pressed, it will refresh that dataset.
- Share that flow with the group that has access to the report with RUN AS priv's.
They can then refresh the report by pressing a button on the report. You can even add additional steps to the flow like notifying them the refresh has started via Teams or an email.
That way they have no access to all of the datasets, and anyone that is a Contirbutor or higher will bypass any RLS settings, so it is a bad idean in general.
