Alerted when a data gateway connection fails

Hi all,

Recently had a situation where a few data gateway connections failed to connect. The users reports using that connection all failed with a generic "Transient error" log.

Is there a way to be alerted when a data gateway connection fails?

Hi @v-diye-msft  @Greg_Deckler ,

Thanks for your replies, but that is not the issue I'm trying to resolve. I should have been more clear.

I am the data gateway administrator. Users are building reports off of the gateway connections I provide to them. However when/if a connection fails I am not notified that it has stopped working until users let me know their reports failed to refresh.

Is there anyway I can be notified of a connection no longer working?

IE: I build a connection to an on-premise SQL server and provide to 5 users. The SQL server database we're connecting to get deleted so the connection fails. How can I be made aware of this failed connection?

I'm hoping there is some way for the data gateway to routinely test its connections and notify of any errors.

As well, when users do send me the errors that I eventually trace back to a data gateway connection, it is usually a generic "transient issue" error that is vague.

Yes, it is in the Scheduled Refresh area when setting up your refresh schedule.
