Advice - backups from PBI Service
Wonder if anyone can advise,
One of my users requested a change to a set of visualisations in the service.
I downloaded the pbix - and then screwed up - I updated an older copy of the pbix, uploaded it and accidently deleted the downloaded version (from my browser).
I can not find the downloaded version anywhere - It appears to have gone for good.
The version on the server had been there for months with no change so if I could find a microsoft backup (do they do them) from last Monday, that would enable me to get the pbix back (which has a couple of visualisations in it that my users need).
Can anyone advise?

Hi stan_w_gifford,
Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft fabric community forum.
Unfortunately, Microsoft does not keep versioned backups of .pbix files once they are overwritten in the Power BI Service. Once a report is replaced or updated by publishing a new version, the previous version cannot be recovered from Microsoft's side, there's no rollback or restore function currently available for reports published via the Service.
You can try and check your browser’s Downloads history: If you downloaded the file from the Service and haven't cleared your browser history or check the Recycle Bin. The file may have been deleted unintentionally. Open the Recycle Bin and sort by date or file type to check if the .pbix is still recoverable from there. You can also check OneDrive, Dropbox or backup tools installed on your system, check if the file was backed up there automatically. Sometimes, those tools retain older versions of files or deleted files for a short time.
If I misunderstand your needs or you still have problems on it, please feel free to let us know.
Best Regards,
Hammad.
