Adding comments in the dashboard page or charts

I have a customer that want to put comments and annotations on the charts and dashboards. some other competitors supports this. I wonder is this feature in your list of to-add or not? if yes, do you have a timeline?

This gap will be improving very soon. In the short-term, I use Excel 2013 Power View Text Box as a work-around.

Hope that helps.

@sampathkumar

FYI, you can now add 'Comments' to a published APP. This is a good start. I am hoping that Power BI will add more features such as:

1. Comment on individual Tile

2. Delete comment

3. Group comment

4. Upload images into a comment

Hi,

This can be done using app on your phone/Tab, Annotation is now available as a feature on Iphone PowerBI app. You

You can draw, put comments and share the screen to any user via email.

For Reference : https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/powerbi-mobile-annotate-and-share-a-tile-from-the-...

Thanks,

Vivek

I see that there is a comments tab in the On-Prem PowerBI Report Server. where you can add notes related to the PowerBI Report. Its very useful!!

This is actually possible: I have found a work around but with limitations:

Create a data entry table using "Enter Data" add the column "comment" to contain your comments and additional columns for the details by which you want to filter e.g. date:

Link other fields to the relevant tables e.g. date to date table. And then just drag the comments field to the canvas:

The big issue at the moment is the display of a text field: text is not displayed in full, there is no visual which allows wrapping as shown in the above screen shot.

Hi,

You can use this Custom Visual. LongTextViewer.

Search for text on this page https://app.powerbi.com/visuals/

Any update with this feature yet?

@JenUnderwood     Do you mind sharing more details on the Power view workaround?

Not at the moment, but that sounds like a great candidate for a feature request. You can submit one at  https://support.powerbi.com/
