Adding a folder as a data source on the on premise data gateway

Hello

I published a report on Power BI services that has 2 datasets (excel) imported from our network folder and the IT team that manages the on premise gateway has added a folder as a data source (shared with me). I was told by the IT team that even though my excel files are located in sub folders that the gateway can still connect to it and refresh the data.

However,  i get the following on the settings page. Down on the data source credentials view it says "Failed to test the connection to your data source. Please retry your credentials." When i edit the credentials the path points to the subfolder that was shared with me with authentication method of "windows without impersonation" and i set the privacy to "organisational". However nothing happens when i hit sigh in.

Will my IT admin need to point to the excel files and mapped it directly for me on the gateway?

Problem solved. I had to change the data source to "folder" and change the directory name (instead of xxx drive to \\XXX\X etc).
