Add a query to an online dataset

We have, online, a PowerBI report that has a dataset.

I want to add to that dataset.  How on earth can I do that!

I have downloaded the wreteched thing with the online data option and gone through the extremely painful process of figuring out the table query so that it actually appears in the report.

But then the only option there appears to be publish... though that then wants to replace it all! I just want to add to the data set.

So how do I that - update the online dataset?

Dataset editing in Power BI Desktop is the process you described

1. Download or use saved local copy of Dataset
2. Edit Dataset in Power BI Desktop
3. Publish Dataset to same Workspace, Overwriting the original with your update
   
   

There is not currently an option to edit a Dataset online that was created in Desktop

Thanks Cassidy, I was afraid of that.

A very frustrating product - I've basically spent a whole day trying to get thinks working, but constantly faced with unclear errors.
