Add OneDrive to a workspace. SharePoint Communication site.
The answer is no.
There's no way to upgrade a Communication site to an Office 365 Group, and therefore no way to set a communication site as a OneDrive site for a workspace. You can, however, type that URL in every time that you need it.- "It is not supported to connect a Communication site to Microsoft 365 group."
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/dev/transform/modernize-connect-to-office365-group - "The Workspace OneDrive feature allows you to configure a Microsoft 365 group whose SharePoint Document Library file storage is available to workspace users."

Thank you for your attempt.
I'm trying to add a OneDrive site to a workspace (new workspace not classic).
Please see the image in the original post. That's the dropdown to add a document library to a workspace. It doesn't take an URL. It only takes an email address of a SharePoint Team site. Since SharePoint Communication sites don't have an email address, you can't add the site to the workspace. There are two types of SharePoint sites: team sites and communication sites.
I should clarify that the workspace is new workspace, but it's not new. It's been around for a while. If you don't know the answer, that's ok. I can keep typing the OneDrive URL in the field when I get data from the service.
(also, I'm the same person as above. I just have 3 accounts, which I use based on the company email I'm using when I login to the community site. I have my day job email, my side-gig email, and my personal email for my consulting. You'd think that Microsoft would take a clue from LinkedIn and support multiple email addresses).
