Hi,
My setup is as follows:
1. Tenant 1, pro workspace, pro user. Pro user has a report in the pro workspace which needs to connect to...
2. Tenant 2, premium workspace, which has a semantic model.
Is this possible? or the user from Tenant 1 must have a premium license (or its workspace assigned premium license)?
The documentaiton is not clear about this.
My use case is that I am using pipelines to deploy a semantic model from one workspace to another (say, dev, stage and prod), and the pipelines are forcing me to have all workspace involved as premium. This I can afford (financially). But I cant request all my users in different tenants to update their/work license to preimum, because I choose to work with PowerBI pipelines in my tenant.
Does anyone understand how Microsoft PowerBI team planned? Am I missing something and it is actually possible?
Hi @RC_Bardohn
Pipelines are meant for premium capacity. In order for a Guest user to consume items in those premium WS , the user needs a PPU license.

So if I as a DevOps engineer choose to work with PBI Pipelines, every user/worlspace who connects to the semantic model stored in the workspaces the pipeline deploys to, has to have a premium license as well?
Even if its PPP, its just premium no? That means all my downstream users of the semantic model need premium, and pay double... because I deploy the semantic model using pipelines?
I don't understand the license model here. This can't be right.. I have a dozen of organizations on different tenants and hundreds of users connecting to my semantic model in my workspace..
Hope this can help you understand

Do you know of a way to define a pipeline without forcing all the users of the involved workspaces have PPU license?
The documenation here is not clear about this: "Microsoft Fabric concepts and licenses"
