Accessing Semantic Models - Can't access cloud-created models in desktop
This might seem silly but I'm at the end of everything I've tried to find in settings, youtube, searching, etc.
I'm pretty new to PowerBI, but not new to 365 or power automate. Anyways, I've created FOUR semantic models using the cloud version of PowerBI. Power automate updates these models everyday.
1 model is in "my workspace"
3 are in a different workspace (let's call it OTHER for reference) that I created and am the admin of
In PowerBI Desktop, I cannot connect to any of the four. Can't see them. I DID promote them. Doesn't matter.
On top of that, I created an entirely new .pbix file using powerBI desktop, which I saved to that OTHER workspace, and I can access that one perfectly fine (from desktop or PowerBI cloud). Why would I not be able to see those other four, that I created and am an administrator of?

- One reason might be that you're using a personal cloud connection instead of a shareable cloud connection for your semantic models. Personal cloud connections have some limitations, such as not being able to share them with others or use them for live connection mode. Shareable cloud connections are more flexible and allow you to create multiple connections to the same data source, with different settings and permissions, and share them with others. You can create a shareable cloud connection from the semantic model settings page in the Power BI service, and then select it from the Power BI Desktop when you connect to the semantic model.
- Another reason might be that you're trying to use live connection mode for your semantic models, which is not currently supported for in-place semantic model sharing. Live connection mode allows you to connect to a semantic model without importing any data, and use the semantic model as the source of data and metadata for your report. However, this mode is not available for semantic models that are shared with guest users from other organizations. You can use DirectQuery mode instead, which also connects to the semantic model without importing any data, but requires Power BI to change queries in the DirectQuery mode, which consumes resources on shared capacity or a Premium capacity.For more information, see
