Access to Reports for Free License users

Hi

We started using Power BI Service ( migrated from On Prem Power BI server).
Only few have Pro license / Premium Per License.
Initially , I had Pro license ; now I have PPU license.

In the MS documentation , it states that

<quote>
.... Pro and PPU users can share content and collaborate with free users if the content is saved in workspaces hosted in Premium capacity
</quote>

I changed my workspace from Pro to Premium Per User.
Still , free PBI users can't access the reports.

Does it mean , I have to get Premimum Per Capacity license to create workspace in Premium capacity? (pardon me , for this question)

Thanks in Advance.

Hi @zahirmohideen,

Yes, that is correct. To share content with free Power BI users, the workspace needs to be hosted in a Premium capacity. This means that you would need to have a Premium capacity license in order to create a workspace in a Premium capacity.

The Premium capacity license is different from the Premium per User (PPU) license that you currently have. The Premium capacity license allows you to create and manage dedicated cloud resources that are used to host Power BI content. With this license, you can create workspaces in a dedicated capacity that can be shared with free users.

If you do not have a Premium capacity license, then the content in your workspaces will be hosted in a shared capacity, and you will not be able to share it with free Power BI users.

If you do not have a Premium capacity license, then the content in your workspaces will be hosted in a shared capacity, and you will not be able to share it with free Power BI users.

Hi, I am not having the same experince as what you've described.  I have a PPU site, that all free users can access but one.  We're trying to troubleshoot why one user out of 20 free users, can't access this site.  However free users can definitely access a site that is not premium capacity.

Hi! I'm working on a slide that shows that report distribution options (dashboards/paginated) are available based upon the workspace license (pro/ppu/premium) and recipient license (no pbi/pro/ppu/premium). These combinations are very confusing! Would you be willing to review my slides? I'd gladly pay a consulting fee or provide a gift card, etc. It's a part of my job that I have mastered yet! Thank you. Jerry

Thank you very much . Appreciate your response.
