Access Level Issue with Relationship

Hi Community!

I'm having serious access issues with a big frustration and seeking an assistance for a possible solution.

I have two datasets and two access groups (contributor and viewer) in one Workspace.

Q1. When I give someone a viewer access to the Workspace, the person should automatcially get the entire access? (contents and datasets)?

Q2. I built and published a dashboard using a relationship (Direct Query) for two datasets saved in the workspace - the person with Workspace viewer access won't be able to see the dashboard due to access issue. Is this normal? Should I give a separate dataset access to the users with a Workspace viewer access? The users with Workspace Contributor access has no issues viewing or accessing the dashboard.

Hi, @encamped

Here is my answer to your question:

Q1: When you are the Viewer of the workspace, you can get the Read permission of the report and dashboard of the workspace, but you cannot view the datasets in the workspace. And also need to have Pro liscense when accessing the workspace. If the workspace has PPU capacity enabled, it needs to have PPU liscense.

Q2: The Viewer in the workspace has the right to view the dashboard of the workspace. If a permission problem is prompted, you can check whether RLS is configured in the dataset. If RLS is configured, it needs to be done in "Security" in the dataset. Configuration, and also make sure that the Viewer account has the necessary licenses.

You can refer to the following documents:
