AUTOMATIC LOG OUT FOR POWER BI WEB SERVICE

Hi everyone,

In using power Bi for my organization I noticed that when I publish reports/dashboard to the Power BI service, so that different end-users can utilize them, on the end-user side there's not automatic logoff. It's as if the session never expires. They can be logged-in indefinitely regardless of inactivity. I've read the boards here and while there's some "TIMEOUT session in minutes in data source settings" for PowerBI desktop explanation, I don't see an explanation for a setting in Admin Portal where you can force the inactive user and log them out if, say, 10 minutes or so has passed and they have been inactive.

Thanks in advance for any help on this matter.

  • Hi there

As far as I am aware there is no setting you can configure in the Power BI Service.

What I do think you could look into is asking your Azure Admin if they can look at the Azure Active Directory settings, as there might be a setting in there to auto-log off users after a certain period of time?

Thanks Gilbert. Any step by step on the Azure angle on this? I don't see it on the audit logs. Or are you suggesting the Admin needs to log out any Office365 user that has been idle for a specific time?

        Hi there

Yes I would suggest looking into Office 365 or Azure Active Directory to modify the settings on when to auto-log out users
