invalid database engine after inserting PBI Premium product key

Hi,

I used the trial version of PBI report server on my SQL 2017 standard edition, this worked fine, we would like to use data drive subscription on PBI paginated reports, to do so we either needed to upgrade to SQL enterprise or get Power BI Premium. We got a license Power BI Premium, in the admin portal i retrieved the PBI Report Server Product Key, I run the installation package and choosed Upgrade Edition, I entered the product key and installation updated. Going into the Configuration manager, I was not able to create a database, i received the message " the database engine instance you selected is not valid for this edition of report server".

I was told that using a premium PBI license would provide a on premise PBI report server with enterprise edition functionality without having an enterprise SQL server, also on the microsoft pages I get the info this should work.

Any ideas why i am not able to configure my PBI report server on a SQL 2017 standard editon?

Many thanks!

PBI report server should be able to use SQL 2017 standard editon as a catalog location. I am investigating this now. I'll provide an update soon.
