copy paste list of values in power bi report builder prompt (In Multiselect parameters)

copy paste list of values in power bi report builder prompt (In Multiselect parameters)

I have powerbi report builder report which is having project number as defined as multi select parameter value and it has 40k values which are listed down in the drop down list. But wanted to select 500 values out of it. Manually selecting one by one with pressing control is tedious manual work. Also tried with alt+tab keys which is working, but selecting 500 values is time consuming. Is there any way can we enter those values or simply copy paste with comma seperated from excel or notepad into prompt values? Please help

Which is possble in SAP BO multi select Prompt

Do you need the list of 40k values in the drop down for the parameter? Are they of any use or do they just get in the way? If you don't need the list you can edit the prompt and change the Available values to "None". Then you will get a text box which you can paste values into and each line will be treated as a separate entry.

Thanks a lot. Its working fine. we are listing down 40k values to choose/select the project#. Currently they are selecting manually.  Here I want both ie either they can select from drop down or they can copy paste, Is there any way to do that or I need to create two drop down one with available values and one without available values (copy paste) both will be optional parameter so that they can choose either way. Please suggest

Unfortunately I don't know of a way to support both in the one dropdown. So you could either create 2 dropdowns, one with the available values and one without, you could probably create a hidden parameter with an expression to pick the appropriate values to use.

OR you could create a report without the available values and then use this as a subreport in a second report that does have the available values. In this way you would only have to maintain one copy of the report layout, but your users would need to choose whether to use the one with or without the parameter lists.
