connection between report server and azure AS

Hi,

I would like to know if i install PowerBI report server and start building reports that connect to analysis server in Azure,:

  1. how would the authentication take place? 
  2. would gateway be needed to allow the communication ? I am assuming yes because report server will be on-premise and data source is azure.

    PBI RS can connect directly to the Azure AS, not gateway needed. 

     

    You would need to use stored credentials in order for the connection to work without Kereberos delegation.
