Can you suggest me which type of chart can be used for showing data as shown in the image quartile 1, quartile3, median and score are four measures .So far have used bullet chart , box plot chart but the problem is that in bullet chart i cannot show legends value. I want something like the image or plesae suggest other chart
Hi @poojayadav22 , Hope you're doing fine. Can you confirm if the problem is solved or still persists? Sharing your details will help others in the community.

To visualize quartile-based benchmarking data like Quartile 1, Median, Quartile 3, and a Score value, the most suitable chart type in Power BI is a Box & Whisker (Box Plot) visualization. It naturally represents quartile distribution while allowing you to overlay individual values such as the current score or previous year score. However, the default box plot in Power BI has limitations, so many users use custom visuals like MAQ Software Box & Whisker Chart or Power KPI Matrix to show quartiles along with labeled score dots and legends. A Bullet Chart is also valid, but as you noticed, it does not display legends or quartile labels well. An alternative is to combine a line chart with marker dots and custom reference lines (Q1, Median, Q3), but this requires manual setup. Overall, the best user experience will come from a box-and-whisker custom visual or a KPI matrix with quartile thresholds and score plotted clearly.
i want solution for paginated report the below image that i shared have to create similar like this
In Paginated Reports, there is no built-in box plot or bullet chart like in Power BI Desktop, so to recreate a view showing Quartile 1, Median, Quartile 3, and a Score, the most practical approach is to use a line chart with a single marker and constant reference lines. You plot the score as a dot, then add constant lines for Q1, Median, and Q3 along the axis, and label them manually. This setup visually mimics the box-and-whisker or benchmark display from your screenshot, allowing you to clearly compare the score against quartiles. Essentially, the line chart acts as the axis, the constant lines show quartile thresholds, and the point marker represents the score. This method provides a clean, professional alternative that works within Paginated Report limitations.
First of all bullet chart is available in paginated report i have tried thta but the problen is that we cannot show legend in that chart and box plot is available in paginated report have tried both
Hi @poojayadav22 , Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community Forum.
In Paginated Reports (Report Builder), both Box Plot and Bullet Chart exist, but neither is suited for showing pre-calculated quartile values with clear legends and labels. The Box Plot expects raw data so it can compute quartiles itself, if you feed it fixed quartile measures, it won’t render properly. The Bullet Chart, while visually close to what you want, doesn’t support dynamic legends or text labels for its comparative measures, that’s a limitation of the SSRS engine.
I suggest using a Line Chart with Constant Lines. Plot your Score as a single dot (turn off the line so only the marker shows). Then add three constant lines for Quartile 1, Median and Quartile 3, each labelled manually. This works with pre-aggregated data and gives you precise control over color, text and layout unlike the statistical or bullet visuals.
