What does the Power BI paginated report visual 30,000-value data reduction limit refer to?

Hello Community

I am using the Power BI paginated report visual in a Power BI report and passing it parameters. All works well until I pass all values in all parameters then I get the “Too many Values” warning and not all data is returned in the paginated report.

As per Microsoft’s link below, "The paginated report visual has a built-in 30,000-value data reduction limit “

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/visuals/paginated-report-visual

What does this data reduction limit refer to?

Does it refer to the parameters being passed in or the Paginated report visual resulting tablix fields?

How can I calculate it from the parameters that I am passing in?

Below is a screen shot showing the parameters passed to the paginated report:

I have done many tests but can’t seem to understand exactly what the 30000 limit refers to.

Please help as this will be the deciding factor on if I can use the Power BI paginated report visual or I have to use just the paginated report which is far less user friendly when selecting parameters.

@GF-PBI1 the 30.000 limits happens when you try to EXPORT the data in the visual, and if you have more than 30k rows, the exported CSV file will be truncted at 30k rows. This limit is for power bi desktop. A published report on the service has a limitation of 150k rows.

Hi @GF-PBI1 ,

yeah there is a natural limitation in that visual. Take a look into the documentation: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/visuals/paginated-report-visual

Best,

Kathrin
