Hello,
I am experiencing an issue with my Power BI Desktop file. When I try to open my PBIX file, I get the following error message:
> “A problem has occurred: The file ‘C:\Users\Downloads\Gaci nuage de points.pbix’ is corrupted and cannot be opened by Power BI Desktop.”
I have tried re-downloading the file and opening it on another computer, but the same error occurs.
Could you please help me recover or repair this PBIX file? This report is important, and I don’t have a recent backup.
Here is my environment information:
- Power BI Desktop version: [insert your version, e.g., 2.123.4567.0]
- Windows version: [insert, e.g., Windows 10 64-bit]
- File location: local hard drive, in the Downloads folder
Thank you in advance for your help.
Hello !
Thank you for posting on Fabric community!
I will share with you some workaround I tried when I faced the same issue.
A PBIX file is technically a renamed ZIP file so make a copy of your .pbix file and rename the extension to .zip and try to open the ZIP file. (you can use a 3rd party to repair the zip file)
If it opens, the file may not be completely corrupted you can check the DataModel or Report\Layout files inside if not then the file is likely truncated or severely corrupted, and PBI can't recover it.
Sometimes PBI autosaves temporary recovery files, so try to check under C:\Users\<YourUser>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Power BI Desktop\TempSaves
Try also with a different PBI Desktop version (both Microsoft Store version and standalone MSI version).
