Hi
I encountered a strange problem when I update the PowerBI Report Server to V2024.09
The only thing I changed in the report server is the authentication mode that I change it from WindowsNTLM to froms.
The Report Server works well in V2023.09, V2024.01 and V2024.05. But when I upgrade the version to V2024.09, I am unable to create file, publish and open any reports.
The erros shows:
Unable to create folder
There is a problem. Please try again later
And I enable Verbose Log in the config file, however there is no obvious error message in the log
The only error I can see in the log is:
2024-11-15 14:41:04.7289|INFO|175|Received request POST /api/v2.0/catalogitems| RequestID = s_29befdff-f4b4-4721-8698-97f057ddb226
2024-11-15 14:41:04.7289|ERROR|175|Validate Referer Failed (https://xxxxxx)| RequestID = s_29befdff-f4b4-4721-8698-97f057ddb226
Does anyone know how to solve this problem?
Best Regards
Tommy

Hi,@Buddy_C .I am glad to help you.
It looks like you have configured Form authentication for logging into the power BI report server Web
Portal, but there is a problem with the configuration for the September release.
According to the error message, this may be due to a problem with the authentication configuration:
Please double-check that the Forms authentication schema is configured correctly and that all necessary settings have been made.
Check the Web.config and rsreportserver.config files to ensure that there are no omissions or errors.
I hope you find the following links helpful.
URL:
Configure custom or forms authentication on the report server - SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)...
Configure the web portal to pass custom authentication cookies - SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS...
I hope you will try my suggestion below.
Clear your browser cache after making sure the configuration is complete.
Regarding your problem after the update, it cannot be ruled out for now that this is a version issue (for the September version)
So please make sure that the configuration is working properly and download the previous version to check if the same error occurs.
If, after several tests, it is confirmed that the problem only occurs with the September version, this means that there is no configuration error. This means that there is no misconfiguration.
You can try to create a support ticket to get more help (in this case, it could be a problem with the latest version of power BI Report Server).
If you are able to provide more test results, this will help resolve your issue.

I hope my suggestions give you good ideas, if you have any more questions, please clarify in a follow-up reply.
