Unable to Publish
Hi,
I have a report that is getting data from SQL Server. I am unable to publish the report. After clicking on the publish button in the ribbon, I am prompted for the account info. On providing the information, nothing happens. Please help!

Are you using the right version of Power BI Client? Your icon should say "Power BI Desktop (October 2017)" [substitute month for whichever version of the report server you are running]
You should be going to the file menu -> Save as -> Power BI Report Server
It only says Power BI Desktop. Even properties describes it as Power BI Desktop.
Also, when i click save as, the only option I have is to select the location to save the file. No option to upload to server.

Which version of the Report Server have you installed?
You can download the client files (x86 and x64) with the server file but you can't use the version you are using now to publish to Power BI Report Server.

there could be many reasons. Do you have some kind of error message?

Hi, well maybe you still need some other accessrights. Is your report stored in a folder? Do your collegues have the same issue?

hi, just to be clear, by folder I mean folder in PBIRS. I not sure if you also need the Publisher role in the folder security settings. Maybe that is missing

on PBIRS -> hover of folder -> three dots -> manage -> security
info: report builder role is just for paginated reports, PBI dashboards needs publisher role
