Text filter visual error: Content is blocked

Up until recently, the Text Filter visual doesn't load anymore and shows and error "This content is blocked. Contact the site owner to fix the issue."

Context, this visual loads and functions properly in the PBI app but gives me this error in the PBI browser and the PowerBI Capacity workspace it's published onto. It used to load and work in the capacity workspace and all I do it update the data table, but it stopped working this month. I tried changing permission levels from Organization to None and that didn't do anything either. If anyone has any thoughts on how to fix this, it'd be greatly appreciated.

Hi @MarioVW

The only workaround I found is to upgrade Power BI Desktop RS to the September 2023 version. Please tell me if you can apply this workaround and if it fixes your issue.

The issue was spontaneously resolved by itself but I'll update this thread if the problem returns.

Hi @rgu101 (again 🙂

Is it possible to give me the version of Microsoft Edge and Microsoft WebView2 Runtime that are installed on your machine? As Power BI Desktop use WebView2, maybe it will help me to understand what happens.

Thanx in advance for the time you will spend for me!

Hi @rgu101  Thank you for your answer. Please, could you tell me the version of Power BI Desktop RS you used when you had the "Blocked content" issue?

Thank you in advance for your answer.

Have an amazing day!

Hi @TinyToons , I used Version 2.120.731.0 32-bit (August 2023)

@rgu101  I am expereincing the same issue. What kind of visual do you have? I have Bullet Chart. After discovering this issue, I deleted the visual and re-imported it but still not working. I have also imported other Bullet Charts but still no luck. However, my other visualizations are still functioning properly.

Can anyone help on how to fix this? Thank you.

I'm using the Text Filter visual from Microsoft Corporation. I also tried deleting/re-creating and re-importing the visual but nothing works. Only the default visuals function properly.

@rgu101What's your license type? I have Pro license. I downloaded the Text Filter visual from Microsoft and it is working on my end (As of now). Not sure if this has anything to do with the license. I initially thought it may have something to do with the published visuals but when I imported other random published visual, some of them actually worked.

I have a Pro license. The visual works in the desktop app but not in the browser editor or the published capacity workspace.

Same issue here. Stopped working yesterday.

Hi @chrisBLVD

Do you still have this error?

What are the version Power BI Desktop RS, Microsoft Edge and Microsoft Edge WebView2 that are installed on your machine?

On my machine, I have:

* Power BI Desktop RS January 2023

* Microsoft Edge 120.0.2210.61

* Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime 120.0.2210.77

Thanx in advance for the time you will spend ansering my questions 😉 I think it will help me to troubleshoot this issue.

Have ana amazing day!

Hi TinyToons,

We have had several of our customers using the same PBI Desktop RS version (JAN2023) with the same experience: all custom visuals stopped working.

Any clue how this can be addressed/fixed or is there a work around?

Thanks for your support!

Hi @Michel_Dekker

The Workaround I found for the moment is upgrading to Power BI Desktop RS September 2023. Tell me if it solves your issue.

Have an amazing day!
