Tag preservation needed when migrating from SharePoint to Report Server

We are in the process of evaluating the migration of our internal reporting services from SharePoint to the 2016/7 version of ReportServer. One of the essential components of our SharePoint setup is the extensive use of tags to determine the report type/department/contents etc of each of hundreds of reports. If we migrate to the new server, all those tags will be lost.

Does anyone know if:

• Microsoft has any plans to support media tags on the new report server? (At the 2017 PASS conference the Power BI Server Dev team rep said they have "no current plans" to do this, that they did include a "text field" for each report (unhelpful in this situation) but to suggest it in forums 
• There is a third party supporting this migration process that might add this functionality?
