Sudden loss of data integrity.

Hello,

Dark days, wondering if anyone will read this and feel they have met this challange as after two solid days I have run out of ideas.

We have experienced a change in the data that is being returned to our reports from querys using a IBM DB2 database connector to an on premisis server. Previously, this large number of reports, returned a full set of data. As of 6 days ago the reports have reverted to giving a small sample of the data. Each time i refresh a query i recieve a slightly different subset of data but only every 1/100th of the total that is in the source table.

We have tried to trace the problem but all efforts have failed.

Why would multiple reports that all functioned well for many months suddenly change in this way. There have been no major changed to architecture in the same time period.

The issue arose on the 1st of June, a microsoft change?

The data seems to be throttled randomly, both when published to the server and when refreshed on desktop, what could do this, licence limits.

Any thoughts hugely appreciates.

Tim

Hi @Lobstersrnice ,

Where does this problem occur? In PBIRS or Power BI Service,  please provide more detailed information.

Thanks for your efforts & time in advance.

Hi Binbin Yu,

The problem is occouring on both the desktop machine and the service.

I am looking to revert my version on power bi back to April update to see if the problem still exists.

I will update the result.

I reverted the version of desktop to March but the query still returned a small section of the data.

We have noted our Gateway is not the current version and are now updating this.

We now have data flowing after the Gateway version was updated.

Why would the Gateway version being out of date have any influence on updating a model on my desktop from a local server?

ChatGPT claims:

There have been recent issues reported with the IBM DB2 connector in Power BI following updates made in May and June 2024. Some users have experienced problems with partial data retrieval and inconsistent results when refreshing data from DB2 databases. These issues might be linked to changes in the connector or its compatibility with newer versions of Power BI.

Notably, in May 2024, several updates were made to Power BI, including enhancements to data source settings and query parameters, which may have inadvertently impacted the behavior of certain connectors, including IBM DB2 .

However its source data is from old articles. Has this happend again?
