Strategies for Power Builder Report Server vs SSRS Report Server in Lieu of Dataset Subscriptions

Good morning,

We are currently using a much older version of SSRS Report Server, I believe on the Std. Edition.    We frequently use DataSet Subscriptions to either generically email people on a distribution list, or to generically reference file/folder names on our server.

My understanding is once we migrate to the newest edition of Power Builder Report Server on the Std. Edition, that Dataset Subscriptions are no longer supported.

What suggestions or solutions are people using to get around this limitation if the need to generically send out reports to distribution lists or file/folders on server still exists?

We are just starting to investigate this and what our best options are.

Thanks in advance!

I think the most suitable approach in this case with the limitation would be:

Power Automate to distribute reports to email recipients or save files to network locations as I feel going throigh REST APIs to achieve this maybe more complex and could be used as the last resort

  • Data-driven subscriptions aren't available in Power BI Report Server Standard. Most teams replace them with PowerShell, SQL Server Agent, or custom automation for email and file delivery, or upgrade editions if the feature is essential.
