Running PBIX Reports on SSRS

I already have an existing SSRS (on-premise). I want to use the same SSRS to host and render PowerBI reports.

According to Publish Power BI reports on-premises that this is possible. I tried to upload .pbix file in my Report Manager, and everytime I click on the file it downloads - meaning it doesn't render and open as it would in browser.

Is there anything I should do on my existing Report Server to allow it to run PowerBI reports? How can I accomplish this?

Appreciate your help.

Himyar.

You need to install PBI Report Server which is SQL2017 SSRS with powerbi features.

https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/report-server/

If you have enterprise with support then your licenced Just need a pro user account for the uploader.

Also you need to save your pbix from the desktop version that matches your server. Download from the sample place as the server

Then you either publish from that desktop version or upload from the PBI SSRS.

Not all features work on PBI RS but I found it to be pretty good.

You can run all existing RS reports from the PBI SSRS or have the 2 running side by side on the same box with different instance names.

I tested side by side then transitioned to a single RS.
