Restrict access to folders on Power BI Report Server

Hello

I would like to restric access to a specifi folder on Power BI Report Server, but it does not seems to work.

Scenario:

On the main page of the report Server, I have 3 folders each with Reports inside.

I want my user to view folder 1 and 3 and their contents, but not folder 2 and contents.

my user is local admin on his machine.

Anyone know how to do this?

Hi @oliflo ,

You can try this:

Role-Based Security:

  • Power BI Report Server allows you to manage security using role-based access. You can create roles and assign users to those roles.
  • Start by creating a Security Group in the Office 365 admin portal. Add the users who should have access to folders 1 and 3 to this group.
  • Next, configure Row-Level Security (RLS) settings for your reports. Add the created security group to the RLS settings.
  • By doing this, you’ll ensure that users in the group can only see data from folders 1 and 3.

Best Regards,

Xianda Tang

ok thank you for your help.

But I dont want the user to even see the folders 2 in the web portal.

how can this be achieved?

You should be able to remove access to the individual folders in the security tab of the folder.
