Report integration with internal portal & button navigation

Hi Team,

There seems to be quite a bit of confusion around various features available in PBI Server as compared to PBI Service.

I'm hoping someone can confirm that Power BI reports deployed in the report server can support the following scenarios:

  1. Adding 'Buttons' of type 'Web URL' on each record
    • These buttons need to update url dynamically according to row data.
    • eg.
  2. Reports deployed on PowerBI report server & embeded in intranet are accesable to everyone in the organization irrespective of the licenses they hold
    • One blog mentioned the end user who will view the report via. the intranet portal will require Power BI Pro liceses
    • In another post I read that reports needs to be added in 'Premium capacity' for this to work.

Any details on the above two queries would be really appreciated.

Yes, adding a column to your data model with the type web url will work in Report Server

Viewing a report in the on-prem Report Server does not require any sort of additional license. The server itself can either be licensed through purchasing premium capacity or through SQL Server Enterprise with Software Assurance but to just view a report does not require any additional licensing.

To EDIT and publish a pbix file to Report Server does require a pro license, but just viewing does not.
