Report Server with Oracle ODP.Net Managed 19.21 Language Problem

Hi Pals,

We are currently  at  SSRS 2022  pre-upgrade  verify compatibility stage.

While querying the Oracle E-Business Suite 11i (ERP 11i) database (Oracle 11.2.0.4 version), we are using the Oracle ODP.Net Managed Driver (ODPM) 19.21 version.

Currently, we are encountering the following issues:

The Oracle ERP database supports multi-language configurations. In previous versions of ODP.Net, the NLS_LANG setting referred to the Windows Registry
However, the ODP.Net Managed Driver does not support using NLS_LANG.
During testing, we discovered the following problems with SSRS + ODPM 19.21:

The USERENV('LANG') result from the database keep change  between ZHT and US  ( Language )
Setting the Language Property of the Paginated Report to en-US does not work with ODPM, meaning that the report language is not passed to ODPM.

Hi Jianpeng Li,

Thank you for your kind support.

We are following the Oracle document provided here:
https://www.oracle.com/a/ocom/docs/database/adw-connect-sql-server-rpt-services.pdf

However, there is no mention of any LANGUAGE specification in the document.

Are you suggesting that we can specify the language via the .NET machine.config file?

Regards,
Wilson

Hi, @WlisonShen

Do you have documentation to check the settings of Oracle, such as:

Configuring Oracle Data Provider for .NET

Hi All,

Update final status.

According Microsoft Support Engineer said. SSRS 2022 + Oracle ODP.Net Managed not assocaiated with Oracle session NLS variable : select userenv('LANG') from dual

We had to using :alert session modify NLS_Language / NLS_Territory / NLS_DateFormat  solution to force NLS_LANGUAGE to US format.

Wilson
