Good day,
yesterday I've created a test machine to play with PowerBi. I Installed:
- SQL Server (trial);
- Power BI report Server;
- Power BI Desktop;
I tested Power BI report web-page in my browser, and it's OK. I.e. report server works as expected.
However, when I create a report in Power BI Desktop I am not able to publish it to my local report server repository. There is no such option in Power BI Desktop.
When I click "Publish" button It shows me a popup message to sign in:
"Power BI Desktop and the Power IB service work seamlessly whtn you're signed in".
So how can I publish my report to local Power BI Server without signing in. My computer is not connected to interned and I can't do that.
Thanks in advance,
Gennadiy

Have you downloaded the desktop version for RS?
Get the DesktopRS version here that goes with the RS release
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=56137
This then desktop version lets you save to Report Server. Use Save As not Publish.

Yeah, its not a straight publish.
Is anyone else having problems saving in the new October release? I get the following:
Error
Cant open file or folder /. It may have been moved, renamed or deleted
Any thoughts as to why?
No it worked straight away for me. Save to http://Server/Reports then I get to pick the folders from the server.
Can you upload a powerbi document directly from the webpage?
I do get any error on documents that have a SQL data source in my UAT server. Not sure what's happening here as they work on my Dev box.
Yes, indeed, you have to have the same version of the desktop and the server client
