Hi @Seabra
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.
Power BI Report Server allows in-place upgrades only if the setup wizard can confirm an existing PBIRS installation that matches the same product line, edition, language, and upgrade path. If all these requirements are met and you use the correct installer PowerBIReportServer.exe, the setup wizard will show the “Upgrade Power BI Report Server” option.
If not for example, if the server has SSRS instead of PBIRS, the edition or language is different, or the installation metadata can't be validated the installer will show “Install” instead. In these cases, Microsoft recommends uninstalling the current PBIRS version, installing the new release, reattaching the ReportServer databases, and restoring the encryption keys with Report Server Configuration Manager. This method is fully supported, keeps all report content intact, and works the same as an in-place upgrade.
I hope this information is helpful. . If you have any further questions, please let us know. we can assist you further.
Regards,
Microsoft Fabric Community Support Team.
Bom dia.
Hi @Seabra
In Report Server Configuration Manager, the “Set” button will only be active if there’s a need to change the configuration. If the server is already properly set up and connected to the current ReportServer databases, the button will stay disabled, but the server will still function normally. With Power BI Report Server operating as expected, this shows the instance, databases, and configuration were correctly detected and reused during the upgrade. You can check the database connection, service account, and encryption key status in Configuration Manager for reassurance, but if reports and the web portal are working, no further steps are needed.
Thank You.
