PowerBI Gateway issue
looking for some technical help with PowerBi Gateways, probably need 1 hour.
I have dozens of pbi apps that we conencted to a server running sql express.
i moved to a new virtual server with a full version of sql
i have pointed all the apps to the new server, in the data source settings, and can see the data just fine
i can save the app, and publish it
but when i try to open the app thru the app.powerbi.com, i get this error
there is no gateway to access the data source <dbname>
im close with getting this resolved, just need a gateway expert to help out.
once done, looking to build a technical contact with that person/company for other work down the road..
thanks

Hi rsye ,
Please refer to the following steps to troubleshoot and resolve the gateway issue:
1. Check Gateway Installation and Service:
- Ensure that the Power BI Gateway is installed on the new virtual server where your full version of SQL is running.
- Verify that the gateway service is running on the server.2. Update Data Source Settings in Gateway:
3. Map Users to Data Sources:
- Ensure that the users who need to access the apps are mapped correctly to the data source under the gateway's permissions.4. Test Connection:
- After updating the data source, test the connection to make sure it is successful.5. Refresh Dataset in Power BI Service:
- Navigate to the Datasets section in the Power BI Service.
- Find the datasets for your apps and attempt a manual refresh.
- Ensure that the refresh is using the updated gateway and data source.6. Re-publish Reports:
- If necessary, re-publish your Power BI reports from Power BI Desktop to the Power BI Service after updating the data source settings.I have also found similar posts, please refer to them.

Did you allocate VMs to run your Enterprise Gateway on? (Recommend to have at least two, for business continuity).
