I am very new to Database work and Power BI. I have been tasked with creating a report that will calculate our daily hours for inservice ambulances and create a chart to compare it to our budgeted hours. I connected this very large database and built out a formula that looks at every shift start Date/Time and Stop Date/Time. I used the subtraction tool and then converted duration to a number. This all works. When I try to bring this into a chart and use the date Hierarchy to include year, quarter, month, day the averaging will not work. It bring it down to shift level. Is there a way to tally all the shifts in a day to compare it? Thank you for helping this Rookie.
This is a small sampling of the data.
In our database for me to calculate the number of hours each unit worked I must pull their start and end time for the shift. I do this for each ambulance in the CAD. After computing the hours and minutes for each unit placed in the CAD that day, I need to total daily hours. then average it weekly, monthly, quarterly. I have success averaging quarterly and monthly but when I try to go down to the day, using the date hierarchy, it goes all the way down to the individual shift average.
Hi @Will38 ,
In order to better understand your demands and give the right solution, could you please provide some more specific information? such as your desensitized example data and a screenshot of your desired results?
Thanks for your efforts & time in advance.
