Power BI on Premises RS - Vertica connection String for ODBC (Direct Query) ???

Hi Experts,

We have scenario here where in we need to integrate Vertica DS with Power BI on-prem reporting server rather Power BI Service, per document direct query requires connection string on the on-prem RS, we have installed RS and upto report upload all good which built via BI Desktop. Accessing reports failing as the connection string not set. Again per document Vertica is not mentioned for direct query, posting here to know if anything tested and path forward for the same.

Let me know if  only option is Power BI service for Vertica Direct query ?????

Thanks a lot !!!

The Vertica native connector is clearly documented here Power BI report data sources in Power BI Report Server - Power BI | Microsoft Learn as not supported for either Direct Query or Scheduled Refresh.

But a quick search on the Vertica site does show that they have ODBC and OLEDB drivers Client Drivers | Vertica Have you tried using either of those? Note that you will need to make sure these drivers are installed on both the client machines and on the Report Server machine and you will need to figure out the appropriate connection string format. But bother of these connectors support either Windows, Kerberos or Username/Password for authentication when doing scheduled refresh.

Any relvant reply will be grateful to move forward, also opened official support case with MS - Case 2301100030002192.

Volume of data is high its around 500M rows, live query while building in BI desktop works flawless and refresh also works flawless, now concern in hosting/publish reports for the end users, customer is not OK with SaaS depended on on-prem reporting server only.
