Power BI can redundant a PPM (Project Server 2019) solution?

Hi,
I'm consulting to an organization which decided to "go Agile all the way" and manage all the project in Azure DevOps (while today only dev projects are managed there, and others are managed in MS Project Professional).

They also need a Portfolio & Project Management (PPM) solution to have "Ideation Management" (=Demand Management), Resource Management, Portfolio Dashboards (including interfaces to other organizational systems such as the budget and ERP).

 

My question is - Can they use Power BI only to have the portfolio dashboards, portfolio resource management control - all of that without buying Project Server-PPM solution? saying that all the project will be managed in Azure DevOps...
or the PPM is a must? and why?

In other words- what will be the added values of a PPM layer between the Power BI and the Azure DevOps?

      Hi Henry,

      I'll try to clarify.

      Saying that the organiztion would like to manage its projects in Azure DevOps, can we use Power BI to have a Portfolio Dashboard including a table with all the projects and their health KPIs + a link from that table to every project, another dashboard with resource utilization dashboard cross all projects. I know that OnePlan are doing so, but they are only available in Cloud and this organization must have On-Premises solutions only.

       

      In my last question I mentioned also PPM-Project Server solution. I am trying to understand it Power BI dashboards can be enough.
