Power BI Server Do you need Analysis Services to create DAX

I have been asked to look into report Server. I only have Service and I was wondering. To set up DAX do you need to connect report server up to Analysis Services? Or can youy create DAX in Report Server?

If you have the service, you dont need to connect it to a SSAS, you can create a pbix, and upload it to the service.

No you don't.

Technically when you install Power BI Report Server it also installs a private instance of the tabular engine (SSAS) in order to host the pbix models. So you need to make sure your server has enough CPU and RAM capacity, but you don't need to do a separate install of SSAS.
