Hi everybody,
I have some doubts.
1 - Are there differences between Power BI Report Server and Power BI Desktop ?, for example: are all Visualizations or Features the same for both versions?
2 - I created a report in Power BI Desktop and I open it in Power BI Report, an error was displayed.
"The queries were authored with a newer version of power bi desktop and might not work with your version"
But I continued and published to the Report server Power BI normally.
Is there a problem creating a report in Power BI Desktop and then opening it in Power BI Report Server?
Thank you all.
Solved! Go to Solution.
There are specific versions of Power BI Desktop that work with specific versions of Power BI Report Server. The Desktop versions are referred to as the "RS" versions. You should always have your version of Power BI Report Server match your version of the RS version of the Desktop. That is to say, if you are using the (I'm making up this version) September 2019 version of Power BI Report Server, then you should be using the RS Desktop version for September 2019.
Thanks for the feedback Greg
For example: Does the September 2019 Power BI Report Server and September 2019 Report Server Desktop version have the same features and visualizations?

@kenymaciel - If I understand your question, yes, the RS version of the desktop is built and optimized for the specific version of Power BI Report Server with which it is paired. New versions are released 3 - 4 times per year verses the standard monthly cycle for Power BI Desktop.
Thank you very much, it helped a lot.
