Power BI Report Service opening in wrong Tenant for Guest Accounts

Greetings,

I create and share Power BI reports over Power BI Service, including to a number of external staff members. They all have Power BI Pro licesnses so they are leveraging that license type to view reports on our internal tenant. The workspace was recently inadvertantly deleted but has since been restored. There are handfull of external staff members since restoring, however, where when they go access to the reports in our tenant, fail because it is trying to open the report on their own internal tenant. The workaround for the time being is to have them navigate to Power BI Service --> Switch to our internal tenant --> Access the reports that way. How can this be fixed, however, so that they can access the reports directly from the hyperlinks provided on a weekly refresh email?

Thank you.

@dbalkin777  To include the CTID query filter you can refer the below link. I have just added the ctid filter after the optional experience filter.

Format: https://app.fabric.microsoft.com/groups/{workspace_id}/orgapps/{org_app_id}?experience=power-bi&ctid...

or

Format: https://app.fabric.microsoft.com/groups/{workspace_id}/orgapps/{org_app_id}?ctid={tenant_id}

Example:

https://app.fabric.microsoft.com/groups/64fea95e-xxxx-417e-9194-xxxxxxxx/orgapps/xxxxxx-22e6-4cdc-af8b-b904b333f443?ctid=xxxxxxx-4c2a-xxxxxx-c1686fxxxxxx

Thanks,
Jai

if you're (and you should) sharing the content through a Power BI App you get a link that already has the CTID specified

https://app.powerbi.com/Redirect?action=OpenApp&appId=<app_id>&ctid=<your_tenant_id>&experience=power-bi

this will drive the user to your tenant directly

you can find the tenant guid

if you're not providing the CTID in the link shared try to add it as a parameter as follows

&ctid=<your_tenant_id>

Thank you. I see the CTID in a separate workspace app I've created, but the link I am providing is for the organizational app, where I do not see a reference to the CTID.

the power bi app link already includes it.

just go to update app > copy link

@dbalkin777 Not sure this would be the correct advice, but you can ask your end users to use a different browser and pin atleast one report pointed to the internal tenant on their broswer tab. Next time if they want to access the report using hyperlink, they can simply copy paste it into their browser where they will be making the pinned tab.
