Hi. I'm testing out SQL Server 2017, SSRS 2017 (Version 14.0.600.594 October 2017), Tabular (1400), Power BI Report Server (March 2018) and associated Power BI Desktop RS. All have been installed with Developer edition license.
I have my db, tabular models working fine and loading in analysis services. SSRS Loads as expected (http site) and installed the Power BI report server in developer edition. Strange thing is I dont see an option to download Power BI desktop on the SSRS site. It still looks as it did before. Also when I try to 'Save As' from Power BI Desktop RS (March 2018) I get 'We couldnt find a Power BI report server at this address". Power BI Report Server service is running fine and have restarted the machine to make sure it was a post install issue.
If I upload the pbix file from SSRS 2017 (http://sqlserver.mydomain.com/reports), it uploads, but when I click the file it just downloads the pbix file rather than opening in the browser as expected.
I dont have a Power BI Premium license, SQL Server Enterprise + SA, or Power BI Pro service, as this is not a production environment, rather for proof of concept.
Am I missing something? Have I set it up wrong? Is it a licensing issue? Help! I've got so far this is really the last step to getting buy-in for further development and eventually production!
Sql Server Reporting Services does not support viewing of PowerBI reports, only storage. You need to use Power BI Report Server available at: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/report-server/. You can use the evaluation or developer editions of PBI Report Server to try it out. Note that if you install both SSRS and PBIRS on same machine, you need to ensure the URL's and databases are all configured separately. I'd reccomend only installing PBIRS to make it easy as it has everything SSRS has + PowerBI.
