Power BI Report Server Version Mismatch – Unable to Publish Report (Cannot Find 2023 Desktop)
Hi everyone,
Our organization’s Power BI Report Server is on September 2023 release.
I created a report using Power BI Desktop (optimized for Report Server) – September 2025.
When I try to publish the report to PBIRS, I get mismatch version error.
downloading Power BI Desktop from the link provided in PBIRS, but it always gives me the latest version (September 2025). I cannot find the September 2023 version anywhere on the main download page.
Any advice would be appreciated!
Hi EllieT,

I recommend upgrading your report server to a newer version.

Hi EllieT ,
you have to upgrade to latest version and you may need to face some security issue or changing for the settings.
MS's policy seems not to go back to old version and they won't fix the bugs or errors for the old version.
one thing you have to know is this thread.
